Protest at the Federal Building: No President is Above the Law
WHAT: protest of the president’s crimes and demand that Congress hold him accountable
WHERE: Federal Buildlng, 310 New Bern Avenue, Raleigh 27601
WHEN: 11:30 am to 12:30 pm TODAY Tuesday September 24
The Raging Grannies, elderly activists in costume, will perform a song with the following chorus: “Thinks he’s a king now, a delusion, and its his fatal flaw, sooner or later he’ll pay for his crimes, ‘cause he’s not above the law.”
Over 70 participants are expected. Everyone will sign the following letter to Senator Tillis.
Dear Senator TIllis,
Surely you can see that the president must be impeached. He has admitted that he asked Ukraine to help him hurt Biden, and in that connection he threatened to withhold military aid that had been authorized by Congress. This is extortion and blackmail. He is coercing a foreign power to open an investigation on a political rival, repeatedly asking a foreign government to do his dirty work.
This is exactly what happened in the 2016 election. He has publicly said that he sees nothing wrong with this. Do you?
This president undermined every single branch of our intelligence service, contradicting their findings in favor of Putin while standing next to him.
He blatantly encourages foreign leaders (and members of the Administration and military) to enrich him and his family by staying at his hotels. This is a violation of the emoluments clause of the Constitution.
He goes out of his way to alienate our closest allies while displaying obsequious behavior toward foreign dictators and autocrats. He clearly wants to rule the way they do, hinting that even if he is voted out he will stay in office.
He lies every single day. He regularly engages in racist and misogynist rhetoric.
People are waking up to the climate catastrophe and public pressure to do something about it grows stronger ever day, yet he goes out of his way to deny climate science and make sure that methane emissions and car exhaust continue to escalate.
Your party so far has displayed an unwavering determination to win at all costs, no matter what kind of cheating and lying and selling out of American values this requires. You took an oath to defend the Constitution. It is never too late to do the right thing.
